Free Data Management Plan Consultation Service Now Available to IU Researchers
News Post, December 10, 2025
The IU Research Data Commons (RDC) has officially rolled out a new, one-hour consultation service available to all researchers across Indiana University campuses, aimed at helping researchers draft or refine their data management plans (DMPs) for grant proposals. RDC consultants can assist at any stage of DMP development — from a first draft or outline to a near-complete plan.
Given that many funding agencies now require detailed DMPs as a standard part of proposals, this service helps ensure researchers meet those requirements while making use of the many available IU resources that support data storage, preservation, sharing, and long-term data integrity. A consultation can be booked using a brief online form. Researchers only need to supply basic info such as their funding call, deadline, and any existing project summaries or drafts. To ensure enough time for feedback, faculty are advised to schedule their meeting at least three weeks before the internal routing deadline. Learn more on the RDC DMP Consulting Service webpage.
