New IU Research Security Training Required for Federal Funding Proposals
News Post, April 14, 2025
Federal funding agencies are beginning to implement the research security program requirements set forth in National Security Presidential Memorandum 33 and the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022, Section 10634. Pursuant to these requirements, federal funding agencies must require research security training for senior/key personnel listed on an application for a research and development award. Federal agencies are beginning to require completion of this training prior to proposal submission. The Department of Energy has already begun implementing the requirement and the National Science Foundation has proposed to begin its implementation of the requirement in October 2025. Other federal agencies will begin implementing this requirement as well.
To expedite your next federal proposal, individuals that will be listed as senior/key personnel are encouraged to complete the research security training module as soon as possible.
